"Heir" Pollution As a parent, I often find myself consumed with fear regarding the safety of - toys laden with lead genetically modified, highly processed foods filled with additives, antibiotics, pesticides, preservatives household products and cosmetics containing untested and noxious substances plastics, frequently used and leaching potentially harmful chemicals drinking water polluted with drugs vaccines questioned for toxins. In my home I often feel electronically littered - cell phones portable DVDs MP3s gaming systems blackberries - distracting from INTERACTION with family and friends. Rates of asthma and allergies reproductive and immunological disruptions ADHD and autism cholesterol and blood pressure diabetes and obesity cancer continue to skyrocket. While health care in the US continues to decline. Our planet is experiencing a climate crisis. Global warming is causing climate changes, and left unaffected, is predicted to bring about catastrophic consequences of extreme weather, floods, droughts and other epidemics. I look around our world and it seems we keep adding to our toxic culture. Our bodies, our homes, our lives, our planet are polluted. Is this what we want to pass down to our children? Is the lifestyle we offer their generation going to benefit them? Where are the powers to call out the onslaught of such corporate conspiracy? Who will rise up against this genocide? Where is the greater noise for safe choices in consumer goods, food, and wellness? |
